Last week, as I was exploring the wide world web (a.k.a procrastinating), I came across something interesting. In a software download site I found the agar.io description and I was kind of curious about the game, so I decided to download it from that same website. Here's an image so that you can see how the whole thing looks (when you choose Dark Theme, otherwise it's all white). You can either play in the free for all mode (FFA) individually or try out the teams mode to enact some cool strategies.
Some years ago it was kind of fashionable to talk about virtual reality, something that would allow us to recreate life in a parallel reality, Matrix Style. It sounded both scary and great, but I never thought it would actually happen, but two days ago I run into an article about the Oculus Rift and I freaked out completely. They are coming out next year! Those who have been lucky enough to have tried the headset speak so highly of them, especially about how real everything feels. The launch of this device will obviously mean a revolution in the gaming industry, but it might affect many other areas of our lives. Pretty much everything can be simulated in virtual reality, and if we make a good use of it surgeons will be able to practice new techniques, architects will try out the resistance of new designs... There is an aspect of virtual reality that I don't know whether to qualify as positive or negative. It makes everything that was never going to be possible for a vast majority real (in a way). What I mean is that there is a widely held view that the Oculus Rift will allow those who own it to visit any place on Earth, and even Mars! But is it a good thing that those with less purchasing power (but still can afford to buy the device) have to live life just through a 3D device? Does it make them second-class citizens? Anyway, the truth is that I am so excited for 2016 to arrive, car simulators and sandbox games must be so great to play in such a realistic experience! What's your opinion on the imminent arrival of virtual reality? That's how the head-mounted display looks like. Source: The Independent
